WHO WE ARE
HISTORY
The Biocenosis Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 by a group of young PhDs, Masters, and specialists from different fields of knowledge. Its founders, with academic and professional backgrounds built over years of work in various countries, joined together with the purpose of bringing scientific knowledge closer to society and contributing to the strengthening of initiatives focused on biodiversity conservation, sustainability, and socio-environmental development.
The Institute's creation occurred within a global context marked by profound social and health transformations resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Faced with a scenario that was already worrying in 2019, confirmed in 2020 and amplified throughout 2021, the founders recognized the need to join forces to address a growing challenge: the spread of misinformation and the lack of access to reliable scientific information, especially in the environmental field. In this context, the Biocenosis Institute emerged with the mission of promoting science, innovation, and socio-environmental education as fundamental instruments to support informed decisions and strengthen the relationship between society and nature.
WHAT WE DO

With the motto Think Global and Act Local, we have as main social objective the realization of scientific research to promote the sustainable socioenvironmental development, the preservation and conservation of the environment. For this, we operate in several fields in the environmental area, carrying out activities such as:

Elaboration and execution of socio-environmental projects

Development of basic and applied scientific or technological research

Provision of technical and scientific services related to the conservation of biodiversity and management of natural resources

Organization and promotion of technical and scientific events related to conservation, environmental education and socio-environmental development

Support in the elaboration of public policies related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in Brazil

Conducting courses, training and qualifications in the environmental area

Development and execution of educational and socio-environmental projects with government agencies, international organizations and private institutions
THE TEAM
The Biocenosis Institute is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of PhDs, Masters, and specialists with solid experience in the areas of environment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainability. Our researchers have academic and professional backgrounds in universities, research centers, and national and international organizations.
Together, we have over five decades of experience in scientific research and the development of socio-environmental projects implemented in various countries in the Americas and Europe.
